Rules For 2024

The last time I was all charged, optimistic, and focused about a year, it was in 2020 and we all know how that turned out.

I stopped buying planners after that year. I made conservative resolution lists, and every year since I’ve played it cool…

But as we enter 2024, which starts on a Monday (yikes) we know she already means business and I thought it would be appropriate to share a set of rules I want to enforce (for myself) and I hope they catch on…

(rules because, if it’s enforced I’m better motivated to do it, otherwise it’s slacker central here!)

  1. No, New Year, New Me BS

  2. Respect Boundaries I’ve noticed a lot of influencers, TED Talks, and Millionaires with social media accounts encouraging you to set boundaries. Well, that is great, but it's also very 2022 now. 2024 is gonna be about respecting boundaries others set too. Prime example - if you have friends with kids, respect the fact they work around the schedule of a kid now and not the other way around.

  3. Empathize  Try and see things from another’s perspective. try and understand people even if their opinions differ from yours (big one!)  3a. just because you empathize, do not expect others to do the same. this is about you. not how others will respond to you

  4. Pick a Side  There is no standing on the fence about - Climate Change, Genocide, Pandemics, Politics. Pick a side and get your facts right about the side you pick.

  5. Choose Love

Bonus: a beautiful life is never stumbled upon, it is built. So put in the necessary work. on your own terms.

Leaving you with a quote from none other than Michael Gary Scott (The Office)

This one's for you 2023:

"You know what they say. Fool me once, strike one, but fool me twice...strike three."
